Three Trees Yoga & Healing Arts Center’s RYT 200 – Hour Teacher Training and In-Depth Studies Program is designed for those seeking to become yoga teachers as well as for those who desire to profoundly deepen their own practice.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of a comprehensive Hatha yoga practice including alignment-based asana; pranayama; meditation; anatomy and physiology specific to yoga; a study of the Chakras; Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga); and yogic philosophy as described in the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali. Emphasis will also be placed on the techniques of teaching, including use of voice and body language; learning to observe bodies, modify poses and sequence classes with ample time allotted to “practice teaching” throughout the program. Even if teaching is not the ultimate goal, learning to articulate the principles just studied is a powerful learning tool.  Participants will also explore the business side of teaching yoga so that those interested will emerge confident and ready to start teaching after graduation.

Three Trees Yoga is recognized by the Yoga Alliance as a RYS (Registered Yoga School) and graduates will be eligible to receive their RYT 200 Hour certification upon completion of the program. Graduates will be well-trained professionals ready to teach a variety of yoga classes with confidence and mastery. Although employment is not guaranteed, a strong effort will be made to guide graduates towards appropriate teaching opportunities if desired.

Instructors & Qualifications

Suzy Green-Cindrich: Co-founder of Three Trees Yoga and co-director of the Teacher Training and In Depth Studies program.Suzy has been blessed with many amazing teachers. She started taking yoga classes while on vacations with childhood friend Fenella Lindsell, founder of Yoga Bugs UK. Years later, Jeni’s encouragement to join her for teacher training gave her the opportunity to commit to yoga on a deeper level. She plans to be teaching handstand into her 80’s.

Karen Schwisow: Co-founder of Three Trees Yoga and co-director of the Teacher Training and In Depth Studies program. She often relies on the words of these wise teachers: Kathryn Payne, "Just teach some poses and let the yoga do the work." and Eckhart Tolle " If you think you have something specific to teach you are in trouble. But if you stay grounded in presence whatever you say will be beautiful."

Jeni Martinez: Co-founder of Three Trees Yoga and co-director of the Teacher Training and In Depth Studies program. She has taught Hatha Yoga since 1990. When her first yoga teacher, Renee Taylor, encouraged her to do yoga teacher training back in 1989, she never intended to actually teach yoga but was excited for the opportunity to deepen her practice. Looking back, she is so grateful to Renee for starting her on the path to what has since become her life’s work and her joy!

Dhaval Dhru, MD: Ayurvedic practitioner and yoga instructor at Three Trees Yoga. Dr. Dhru leads Ayurvedic seminars and retreats both nationally and internationally. As a retired ENT surgeon, he combines a unique background in Western medicine with the Eastern healing practice of Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga.

Dr. Tony Velickoff: Dr. Velickoff's vast knowledge of the body comes from his position as an Advanced Orthogonal Upper Cervical Specialist and Chiropractor at Simmons Chiropractic Clinic in Tacoma. He is also a licensed massage therapist and a longtime yoga practioner. By combining his work and his passion for yoga, he is able to teach the complexities of body mechanics and how they relate to the yoga asanas (postures) in a language we can all understand.
